Lesbian and Gay Asian and Pacific Islander Organizations To March in the Los Angeles Chinatown New Year's Parade

Who:    API Equality-LA members, supporters and allies will march in the 2007 Golden Dragon Parade

What:    For only the second time in its 108-year history, the Los Angeles Chinatown New Year's Parade welcomes a contingent representing and supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) members of the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community

When:    Saturday, February 24, 2007, 1 PM (parade to run from 2 to 5 PM)

Where:    Courtyard behind the County of Los Angeles Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, 500 W. Temple St., Los Angeles (accessible from Hill St., between Temple St. and First St.).  Participants will assemble near the Starbucks in the courtyard and walk to the staging area at Hill St. and Temple St.

Supplementary:    API Equality-LA and its coalition partners are delighted and honored to march in one of the most prestigious parades in the City of Los Angeles and to join the Chinatown community in celebrating the Year of the Boar.  This year, participants in the API Equality-LA unit will display the six colors of the rainbow flag - symbolizing diversity and LGBT pride - in a unique and colorful display of the strength of diversity, inclusion, and equality for all members of the Chinese and API communities.  Also expected to participate with API Equality-LA will be members of the Chinese Rainbow Association; Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC); South Asian Network; API Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG); and Asian Pacific Islander Pride Council, which includes Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team (APAIT), Asian American Queer Women Activists (AAQWA), Gay Asian Pacific Support Network (GAPSN), Barangay, Satrang, and Diverse and Inclusive Visionary Artists (DIVA).
